Donnie’s projects boast some of the largest private investments for the City of Las Cruces in recent history as well as creating thousands of jobs for the local community. Donnie has been awarded the “40 under 40”, 5 times by the New Mexico Business Weekly. This honor is given to the top 40 business men and women in the State of New Mexico under the age of 40. Donnie’s “no nonsense approach” to business and strong integrity has given him a solid and trustworthy reputation in his community.
Preceding his entrance to the commercial real estate arena, Donnie worked as a Producer for a New York/Los Angeles entertainment company. During his tenure, Donnie created the multi-Emmy winning show “Win Ben Stein’s Money” which launched the career of Jimmy Kimmel, as well as producing multiple television shows which aired worldwide and included such politicians and stars as: President Bill Clinton, Will Smith, Lou Rawls, David Hasselhoff, Jody Watley, Keith Sweat, Peabo Bryson, Isley Brothers, Jennifer Holliday, Blackstreet, Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Alex Trebek, Gladys Knight, Boyz II Men, Jon Secada, Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle, Tito Puente, Angela Bassett, Brooke Burns and many more.
Prior to his work in Hollywood, Donnie proudly served six years in the United States Navy, two of which he spent onboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger CV-61 and 4 years at Naval Air Station Miramar “Top Gun”. During his stay in the U.S. Navy, Donnie was involved in multiple deployments including the 1989 Western Pacific Cruise (WestPac). While deployed on the 1989 WestPac, the USS Ranger patrolled the Persian Golf and provided support for the Omani and Royal Thai Air Forces. For his service in the United States Navy, Donnie received the Meritorious Unit Commendation (x2), Battle Efficiency Award, Sea Service Ribbon, Humanitarian Service, Armed Forces Expeditionary Ribbon Persian Golf (x2), Navy Expeditionary Medal Operations and a Commendation for opening the flight deck while in port to allow for helicopters to land and transfer badly needed fire fighting equipment to the USS Constellation which was on fire off the coast of San Diego. Donnie was credited for saving many lives during this emergency operation. On the 3rd of August 1989, his ship rescued 39 Vietnamese refugees, adrift for 10 days on a barge in heavy seas and monsoon rains in the South China Sea, about 80 miles from NAS Cubi Point. An A-6 Intruder from VA-145 spotted the barge, which had apparently broken loose from its mooring near a small island off the coast of Vietnam with 10 men on board. Twenty-nine other refugees from a sinking refugee boat climbed aboard the barge when it drifted out to sea.
Donnie is a native of New Mexico whose family roots date back in New Mexico to the late 1800’s. Donnie lives in Las Cruces with his wife and two daughters.
